Effective January 1, 2023: new education requirements for initial Appraisal Applicants
Minimum of at least: 1 hour of Cultural Competency
Effective January 1, 2023: new education requirements for Renewing Appraisal Licensees
Minimum of at least: 1 hour of Cultural Competency and 2 hours of Elimination of Bias.

The Appraisal Trainee Package: has the minimum needed to start appraiser training.
Additional courses may be taken online at McKissock’s appraisal school.
15-Hrs. National USPAP Course, 3 Hrs. Supervisory/Trainee Appraisers course, 1-Hr. Cultural Competency, 4-Hrs. California State and Federal laws course.
150 hours, covering specific modules including the 15-hour National USPAP Course (or its equivalent as determined by the Appraisal Qualifications Board (AQB).
All initial Trainee applicants must also complete the following approved courses prior to obtaining a license (these are mandatory California courses):
- Supervisory/Trainee Appraisers course.
- California State and Federal laws course.
- Cultural Competency.
NOTE: Course work taken more than 5 years prior to application date is not acceptable.
